Patient Safety Incident

Incidents happen in all workplaces, but when they occur in health care settings, they can have serious consequences for patients. Patient safety is a top priority for nurses and other healthcare professionals, and we must take all necessary steps to prevent incidents from happening. This includes reporting any unsafe practices or conditions we encounter, and working together to create a safe environment for patients. Every nurse has a role to play in ensuring patient safety, and by working together we can keep our patients safe.

A patient safety incident is an event or circumstance which could have resulted in, or did result in, unintended or unexpected harm to one or more patients during their healthcare journey.

When an incident does occur, it is important to take quick and decisive action to prevent further harm. The first step is to assess the situation and identify any immediate risks. Once the patient is out of danger, you can then begin to investigate the cause of the incident and take steps to prevent it from happening again.

If you have any concerns about patient safety in your workplace, please speak to your supervisor or another member of management. Your input is essential in ensuring a safe environment for all patients. Thank you for your commitment to patient safety.
